Call for Early Career Sponsorship
The Académie internationale d’héraldique (AIH) is pleased to offer two bursaries each amounting to a maximum of 600 euros to assist early career scholars/professionals with travel, accommodation and registration at the Lund colloquium.
In addition, the Societas Heraldica Scandinavica offers one bursary in honour of the late Antti Matikkala amounting to a maximum of 600 euros to assist an early career scholar/professional with travel, accommodation and registration at the Lund colloquium.
Proposals for papers and posters need to be submitted in the first instance (and separate from the sponsorship application form and documents) by sending an abstract, CV and contact details to the Colloquium organisation at Lund2023@heraldik.org at the latest 22nd November 2022. For full details, see here. Submitted proposals should relate to the colloquium theme: ‘Heraldry and the Law’.
Please note that your PowerPoint should be in more than one language if possible since the audience will include people of different nationalities. Papers will be considered for publication in the proceedings after acceptance by the Scientific Committee. The Committee does not need to justify its decisions.
For an application form for early career funding please contact Dr Steven Thiry at steven.thiry@uantwerpen.be or download it below. Completed applications for early career funding should be made to the President of the AIH no later than 22 November 2022, by email at president@aih-1949.com.
Applicants for funding should normally be 1) graduates studying for a higher degree, or recently graduated with a PhD or Master’s degree, whose dissertation is on a heraldic topic, or on a theme closely related to heraldry; 2) early career professionals (heraldic artists, employees/interns of heraldic offices, museum curators, archivists and heritage professionals etc.) with a proven interest in heraldry. Successful applicants for funding must present their work in person at Lund and are expected to attend the whole conference. The eligible costs for the bursary will be reimbursed after the event upon the presentation of all supporting documentation for these expenses.
